A Russell Berrie Fellowship supports students for one year of interreligious study and research at Angelicum, at either the license or doctorate level. The Berrie Foundation conducts worldwide outreach/recruitment to attract qualified candidates; admission is highly selective.

In 2008, seven fellowships were awarded fellowships as the first class of Berrie Fellows. The students originated from five countries: India, Italy, Nigeria, Romania, and the United States. The second class of 13 Fellows began their studies fall 2009. These Fellows originate from nine countries: Australia, Croatia, India, Italy, Kenya, Nigeria, the Philippines, and the United States.

Fellows in Israel

As part of the Fellowship, a summer study opportunity is offered to provide an academic and interreligious experience in Israel. The 10-day trip includes study at the Shalom Hartman Institute; visits to the Dead Sea and Nazareth; touring the holy sites in and around Jerusalem.
